The forecasts are initialised on the first of each month with a lead time of 215 days at 24-hour time steps. The meteorological data are seasonal forecasts (SEAS5) from ECMWF with 51 ensemble members. A technical issue linked with the processing of SYNOP data at ECMWF has impacted the quality of the SYNOP layer shown on EFAS. This does not have any impact on the EFAS service which does not use the data stream used in the SYNOP layer. This will comprise evidence-based practice and technical tips including videos of surgical techniques. It seems we attempted to describe soil depth as a grib parameter (as it is used in multiple in-house applications) on this documentation page.

Forecasts

It is an asset to the flood risk management of large trans-national river basins as well as the European Civil Protection Mechanism. In addition to forecasting where and when large riverine and flash floods will likely occur, the service also estimates and maps the potential socio-economic impact of those events. The primary aim of the development of a European Certification process in Trauma and Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery is to promote the highest standard of practice in our field of expertise to benefit patients. This certification is designed to validate the knowledge and skills of foot and ankle specialists, setting a standard of excellence within the profession. This course covers the main topics and basic surgical techniques in foot and ankle such as Hallux Valgus surgery, Hallux rigidus surgery, Ankle instability, Metatarsalgia, Hindfoot arthrodesis. Each topic starts with a short theorical presentation, followed by a demonstration from the faculty and ends with 40 minutes of practical work on foot foot by participants.

Our courses are a good and balanced combination of theory and practical sessions, designed to develop a student’s ability and personal confidence. EFAS delivers training that is both fun and enjoyable as well as informative, easy to remember and easy to understand. Our belief is that if students enjoy their first-aid training they will retain this valuable life skill.

I would also like to acknowledge Prof. Georg Sprinzl and his outstanding team for the excellent coordination and organization of the 17th EFAS Congress in Vienna. Furthermore, I look forward to working closely with Dr. Tobias Neher to organize the 18th EFAS congress in Odense, Denmark, in 2027. Known issues include, but are not limited to, forecast issues, production incidents, and data quality deterioration. During the second session titled “Pearls of Wisdom,” senior surgeons would share their journeys and experience. The 3rd session would be an interactive case-based discussion session so that everyone can learn something from it.

The EFAS Matrix allows organizations to prioritize external factors based on their importance and impact, providing a structured framework for decision-making. On the other hand, SWOT Analysis offers a more comprehensive assessment of an organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, allowing for a deeper understanding of the factors that may influence strategic decisions. However, one limitation of SWOT Analysis is its reliance on subjective assessments.

Discussions centred on electrode design, surgical techniques, and patient-reported outcomes, reflecting a growing emphasis on personalised medicine in implantable hearing technologies. The DEFINE study, presented in the opening session, provided compelling evidence that digital cognitive behavioural therapy can be as effective as traditional face-to-face approaches in managing tinnitus-related distress. Other sessions explored auditory training methods, broadband hearing aid amplification, and innovative tools like the Tinnometer to tailor tinnitus therapies to individual needs.Overall, EFAS 2025 was a remarkable professional and cultural experience. The event once again reinforced the importance of evidence-based practice, technological integration, and patient-centred care in shaping the future of hearing healthcare. The combination of cutting-edge audiological science, meaningful professional connections, and the magnificent setting of Vienna made this congress truly memorable.

At this occasion the Secretary-General and Board shall report about events and activities of the past period and present proposals for future activities, for discussion and decision. Elections for members of the Board, auditors and the search committee shall be held. Hearing loss is one of the most challenging health issues that needs global attention.

The European Flood Awareness Systems (EFAS) is the first operational pan-European flood forecasting and monitoring system. EFAS provides a wide range of early flood forecasting information to support national and regional authorities with flood risk management duties in arranging preparatory measures before an event strikes. In addition, EFAS provides a unique overview across Europe and neighbouring countries on currently observed and forecasted flood events.

Individual Membership Application Form

• A list of Centres throughout Europe has been collected but consideration may be given to other International Fellowships.
• Supervised by the experienced EFAS faculty, participants of the courses will practice their techniques on cadavers.

With this in mind, EFAS has developed for several years a program of travelling fellowships which has been a success and that we intend to expand as soon as the epidemic situation permits. In addition, we are starting, conditioned buy the sanitary situation, a project for Research Fellowships where the Fellow will spend some months on a select Research Centre and develop a project on the Foot and Ankle field. In accordance with Practice Direction No. 17 of 2020 you are required to register that you are acting in cases via EFAS. You must make adjournment requests and hearing requests for all summary criminal matters using the EFAS portal.

Accessing an online hearing

It is accepted that this condition may not be treated by Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons throughout Europe. Some water from rainfall, melting snow, or deep in the soil, stays stored in the soil. We must also foster interdisciplinary education, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience to better reflect the real-world complexities of hearing care. EFAS is committed to supporting this vision by working closely with the national representatives of EFAS and academic institutions worldwide. The field of audiology is not just about diagnosing and treating hearing loss—it is a multidisciplinary field about restoring human connection, enabling communication and promoting inclusion in a society. The situation is particularly critical in many low- and middle-income countries, where access to hearing care is limited, and there is a severe shortage of trained audiology professionals.

Data can be accessed is several ways, the most common is through the EWDS (see Data Access). This dataset provides a gridded modelled time series of river discharge, forced with seasonal range meteorological forecasts from GloFAS. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological model at a 0.1° (~11 km at the equator) resolution with downscaled runoff forecasts from the ECMWF 51-member ensemble seasonal forecasting system, SEAS5.

This is the depth the water would have if it were spread evenly over the grid box. Care should be taken when comparing model parameters with observations, because observations are often local to a particular point rather than averaged over a grid square area. Observations are also often taken in different units, such as mm/day, rather than the accumulated metres produced here.Runoff is a measure of the availability of water in the soil, and can, for example, be used as an indicator of drought or flood. Foot and ankle surgery is the sub-specialty of orthopaedic surgery which deals with the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of disorders of the foot and ankle. Specialist foot and ankle surgeons are likely to have undergone surgical training, specialty training in orthopaedics and an additional fellowship in foot and ankle surgery. The aims of the society are to promote the development of foot and ankle surgery and to advance education, study and research in this specialty.

The Examination Board shall include the Certification Committee and all members of EFAS Council when each examination is taking place and shall include co-opted examiners as required. For the candidates who pass the Board shall be responsible for the recommendation to the Union of European Medical Societies (UEMS) for endorsement prior to the award of the Certificate. EFAS provides the framework for focused working groups, usually consisting of active members in the respective field that are established and terminated as needed. Their task usually is to coordinate work directed to specific problems in audiology across different European countries, to come up with reports, consensus statements, or recommendations for further coordinated actions. Over 1.5 billion people worldwide live with some degree of hearing loss, and this number is expected to rise significantly in the coming decades. In children, hearing loss can delay speech and language development, hinder academic performance and limit social interactions. In older adults, it may lead to social isolation, depression and cognitive decline.

Membership of a Non-European Society accepted for affiliation with EFAS will convey global membership of EFAS to all Individuals of the Affiliated National Society and entitle them to receive the journal of the Society. They can work in the Committees but cannot vote in the General Assembly and cannot be elected to join the Council. For EFAS v3.5 and earlier, all variables were only available for 24-hourly time steps. Since EFAS v4.0, all variables are only available for 6-hourly time steps (but can be aggregated to 24-hourly for all non-instantaneous variables). This is the first course BOFAS is running in UAE and the aim is to expand the Foot and Ankle education and training in the Middle East and Gulf area.
